Bob Fish Award Northern Connecticut Sailplane Contest. - May 1971 Left: Fritz Bien, Center: Stu Richmond, Right: Bob Fish In 1991, CRRC established the Bob Fish award to recognize those members for their outstanding service to the club throughout a given year. The award nominee is chosen by the Board of Directors and the award is presented by the outgoing Club President. Bob Fish was one of the founders of CRRC.
The club's current By-Laws were adopted in November, 2019 by vote at the club's annual meeting. CRRC By-Laws in PDF Format / CRRC By-Laws in RTF Format BY-LAWS OF THE CHARLES RIVER RADIO CONTROLLERS ARTICLE I.- NAME The name of the Corporation is Charles River Radio Controllers, Inc. The Corporation shall hereinafter in these By-Laws be referred to as the “Club”. The object of this club is to promote interest and fellowship in radio control modeling.
The Charles River Radio Controllers (CRRC) club was founded in late November 1964 in a basement in Newton. For several months, the original “Thirteen” met in various cellars throughout the area. In those days there were only about 35 RC clubs registered with the Academy of Model Aeronautics and less than 12,000 AMA members. By 1965, CRRC had come out of the underground to start meeting at the Newton YMCA. Membership climbed to 17!
The CRRC Board of Directors inlcudes all club officers and a volunteer club member. Club officers are elected during the November general club meeting and assume office on the first day of January of the following year. The Board of Directors meet every month on the Tuesday following a General club meeting. These meetings are open to all members.
