In 1991, CRRC established the Bob Fish award to recognize those members for their outstanding service to the club throughout a given year. The award nominee is chosen by the Board of Directors and the award is presented by the outgoing Club President.

Bob Fish was one of the founders of CRRC. Being a real RC enthusiast as an engineer at Sylvania, he helped RC bobbiest get those hard-to-find RC items that were not carried in the regular hobby shops of the 1960s and at a 20% discount. Bob later expanded this business by opening a hobby shop in the basement of his home. His shop became one of the social hot spots in the Greater Boston RC community. Every Friday night Bob and his wife Margaret served coffee and showed 8-mm home movies of major local, national, and international RC events. Regulars at these parties were well known among the New England RC community.

Though Bob Fish never served as an officer of CRRC, he offered his shop as a meeting place for the Action Committee, the predecessor to our Board of Directors. He ran several events every year, including fun-flies, H-Ray pylon races, and novice pattern contests. Many veteran club members remember Bob as acting chief instructor who taught many new pilots their first steps in this fascinating hobby.
